Roofing batten is required for slates and tiles on almost every pitched roof. The slates and tiles are generally nailed to the roofing batten for secure fixing but can also be hooked or clipped. The roofing batten itself is always treated to preserve the wood from infestation or rot providing a much improved life expectancy.
